PawPals is an app that makes it fun and easy for dog parents to connect with and meet other dog owners in their area. PawPals allows dog owners to match and easily schedule play dates and walks with other dog owners in their area while ensuring dog compatibility.
PROBLEM
Dog owners feel inconvenienced and unsatisfied when attempting to plan playdates and schedule walks because they do not know dog owners in their area, their schedules do not align and their pets are not always compatible.

After conducting my research and creating an affinity map, I noticed two recurring issues in regards to scheduling dog walks and play dates.
-
Convenience: Users would like to meet pet owners in their area, however individuals varying schedules makes this very challenging.
-
Compatibility: Users would like to ensure their dogs have similar temperament, energy level, likes/dislikes and are similar age and size.
I chose to focus on these two issues when designing the app PawPals.
SKETCHES
Here you will see some of my initial sketches. I took inspiration from dating apps such as Tinder, as well as the pet service app Wag for the design layout. While conducting my research, my test participants mentioned convenience and compatibility as the two key issues that needed to be addressed. Because of this, I wanted to design an interface that was very intuitive and easy to learn. I also felt that including the dogs age, energy level, likes and proximity was crucial to ensure compatibility.
